I studied the cases by one by again and I produced a diagram. This time, I interpreted the narrow explosion in a different way compared to my previous model. I thought that I could divide the nine houses in the list into groups as common feature. For instance, Endless House and Bağ Evi are elevated from the ground. I can also include Balancing Barn in this group because Balancing Barn, which is a linear structure, is not directly connected to the ground. It provides the stage for a changing outdoor experience.
The house, Villa Curutchet, exemplifies Le Courbusier’s five points of architecture. Let’s first look at these five points.
- Pilotis,
- Free design of the facade
- Horizontal window
- Free designing of the plan
- Roof Gardens on a flat roof
After analyzing these five points, I can say that Villa Curutchet also is elevated from the ground with the columns. So, I can also add this house in the same group.
In the previous model and as I mentioned in the collage, I evaluated the other group on the light. Wall-less House, Endless House and House for the Poem of the Right Angle are based on lighting system as differently from others because Wall-less House, there is almost no privacy because of absence of walls. However, House for the Poem of the Right Angle, there is absence of windows. These houses use light for different purposes. Endless Houses’s architect, Friedrick Kiesler, thought that privacy is important in the place. So he designed in this thought.
As a result of these analyses, I thought that these houses have same feature at some point. Therefore, they are merging in this features. I associated these as narrowness. After they merged at same point, these features are used for different purposes so, I interpreted this as explosion. I interpreted “unfolded joints” that these houses have same features at some point. Thus, we can easily distinguish and analyze them from others. This time, I thought in very abstract way. Firstly, I drew diagrams about how I interpret these analyses and then I produced a 3d diagrammatic model.
