The Final Jury & Poster

In my previous assignment models I used grouping principle and I used this principle also in my final model. As you can see from the previous model  a similar approach is used throughout the other models.

CO-MO-RO

After the abstracting, our new step to make model is copy-move-rotate (co-mo-ro) to the planes. First of all,  of this work, we should decide a rectangular plane’s (initial plane) dimensions and total area of the initial plane should not exceed 20cm^2. In addition to that, there is no limit except dimensions of planes. So, I started with creating units of 5 elements (4×4) by using intersection relation and I created 5 units in the same way. After this step, I began to make my model with using intersection and surface to edge relation between my units. Also, I paid attention to apply all three operations; copy-move-rotate and I tried to use keywords of my model but after the discussion hour, I realized that I did not use variation and differentiation of units. I just focused copy-move-rotate operations. Furthermore, I realized that my model look very symmetrical. So, revising of my model was inevitable.

Here is the my model.

After this step, we continued with co-mo-ro but of this work, the number of rectangular elements was limited and we could use min.7 & max.15 planes to produce our models. I started with changing my initial plane’s dimensions (6×3) and I used 3 planes of my units. Also, compared to first model, this time, I used two different units which was changed with using variation and of my model, I wanted to use different relations. So, I used intersection, edge to edge, surface to edge, point to point and surface to surface relations but after the discussion hour, I realized that when I used to surface to surface relation, I created a new thickness and also, I created a new surface with using edge to edge relation of my model. Unfortunately, I missed some points again. In addition to these, I paid attention to use keywords such as hierarchy, continuity, variation, repetition, proportion. Moreover, while making my model, alignments between planes were very important for me.

I used 10 units of my model and here is the my model.

After our second model, we continued with co-mo-ro again but there is some differences from previous model.Of this step, one element of the unit was a variation of the initial plane and also, we used the diagram of our previous model and again, we were limited about number of units. We could use min.10 & max.15 units.

First of all, I started to change one element’s size as a thinner (6×1,5) and I tried to make a model based on my diagram but after the discussion hour, I realized that I misunderstood some points. I just showed same relations and there did not occur new relations. So, when I completed my model, it look like my previous model. Therefore, I revised it and this time, I changed one element’s size as a longer (9×3) of my unit. Furthermore, I used variation of all units and with using these units, I wanted to show different relations such as edge to edge, point to point and surface to edge relations depending upon my diagram. Of this model, there did not occur intersection relation. In addition to these, I tried to use keywords such as differentiation, variation, continuity, repetition etc.

I used 10 units of my model and here is the my model.

Abstracting the Superimposed Image (Ass.01.3)

Of this assignment, we took photographs of the two produced models and printed the photographs on acetate sheet. ( Position of the images and the rotation angle were design decisions of this work.)

This is my superimposed image.

superimposed image

Firstly, I tried different positions between two acetate sheets because I wanted to use keywords (overlapping, layers, repetition etc.) from the assignment for my model. That’s why, I chose this position of the my superimposed image. Secondly, I used tracing paper to find relations. Finally, after I analysed the superimposed image through tracing paper, I began to produce my model. I used rectangular planes and a triangular plane. Through these planes,  I showed layers, repetition, proportion, intersection, overlapping, hierarchy and geometric properties of my model.

And here is the my model.

abstraction

After we completed our three models, we submited them.

Abstracting Image through Model (Ass.01.2)

For this assignment, our instructors gave us 5 different images from each other and we chose one of them. We had same steps in assignment 01.1 to produce a 3D construct.

1

I chose this image because it was more understandable from the other images to analyse it.

And this is my model.

ass.02

Before I began to produce my model, I used tracing paper to find relations of the image because thanks to this way, I could analyse and abstract my model easily.

To produce my model, I used rectilinear planes and a triangular plane. Through these planes, I showed layers, repetition, overlapping, spatial analysis, intersection, and geometric properties.

Abstracting Image through Model (Ass.01.1)

Our first assignment was about abstraction of the course Arch 101. We were asked to search Pinterest through using the keywords (abstraction, proportion, layers, overlap etc.) and select an image to be used in the next stage of the assignment. Of this work, we analysed and abstracted the spatial relations in the printed image and we produced a 3D construct through using planes where the propositional relations in the image.

First of all, I did not have any idea about what to do. So, firstly, I began to search keywords’ meaning which were given to us by our instructors and then, I searched these keywords from the Pinterest. Secondly, I chose an image through using the keywords. (Actually, choosing an image was very hard to me because there were a lot of images of the Pinterest.) Finally, after I chose an image, I analysed and abstracted it through using the rectilinear planes and a triangular plane.

Here is the image which I chose.

abstraction arch

I chose the this image because I did not want to choose a complicated image to abstract it. I thought I could see this image’s spatial relations as clearly and I could analyse it easily compared to others.

And this is my model.

ass.01

In my model, I showed overlapping through using rectilinear planes which are parallel to each other and I used a triangular plane to show overlapping. Moreover, I showed proportion, intersection, geometric properties and spatial analysis of the model.
